SpaceXAI to Merge X, Grok, Cursor Subscriptions
SpaceXAI, the artificial intelligence division associated with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is revamping its product pricing by combining its AI services—X, Grok, and Cursor—into a single subscription plan. The move aims to replace the current fragmented billing system with a unified subscription model.
New Subscription Tiers Introduced
According to reports from Bloomberg, SpaceXAI is preparing to launch four subscription tiers named Plus, Premium, Super, and Ultra. The free tier will allow users limited access to Grok, while an $8 monthly Lite option offers a verified checkmark on X, fewer advertisements, and expanded Grok features. The Ultra tier, priced at $100 per month, is designed for advanced users and includes the Grok Bot AI agent.
A leaked video on X showed glimpses of an even pricier tier costing up to $200 monthly, which bundles Cursor directly with the subscription.
Grok Bot Powers the Top Plan
The standout feature of the Ultra tier is the Grok Bot, introduced in beta in August 2026. Unlike traditional chatbots, each Grok Bot has its own cloud computer, enabling it to operate across various apps and websites without relying on the user’s device. The AI agents can also run multiple instances simultaneously that communicate with each other and share relevant information.
Internal testing shows these bots carrying out complex tasks such as overnight sales analysis, extracting expense data from emails, and troubleshooting software bugs. Currently, Grok Bot supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and iOS platforms, with Android support anticipated in the future.
Financial Pressures and Market Context
At present, users face a confusing selection with seven different pricing plans scattered across X and Grok products, ranging from $3 to as high as $300 per month. This complexity is compounded by SpaceX’s recent acquisition of Cursor for $60 billion, adding another subscription into the ecosystem.
Despite Grok attracting approximately 117 million monthly active users, only about 1.9 million subscribe to paid tiers, resulting in a 1.6% conversion rate. Financial reports reveal that xAI suffered losses of $1.46 billion in the quarter ending September 2025, following a $1 billion deficit the previous quarter. Revenue nearly doubled to $107 million, but the company faces persistent challenges.
Meanwhile, competitors are also adjusting prices; OpenAI introduced a $500 tier while lowering usage limits on its $200 ChatGPT Pro plan, and Meta launched its subscription Meta One globally starting at $2.99.
Implications for Pakistani Users
For Pakistani consumers and businesses engaged in AI-assisted workflows, a simplified subscription structure could enhance accessibility and usability. Many local startups and tech firms exploring AI tools might benefit from bundled services that integrate chatbot functionalities with data tools like Cursor. However, existing security and privacy concerns highlighted by prior incidents—such as unauthorized upload of Git repositories to the cloud—necessitate caution when enabling AI agents across sensitive systems.
SpaceXAI’s consolidation reflects a broader industry trend toward subscription unification, aiming to reduce user confusion while expanding AI capabilities. As AI adoption continues to grow worldwide, including Pakistan, this structuring could influence pricing expectations and service delivery models within the region.
SpaceXAI spokesperson stated, “We’ve unified plans across Grok, Cursor, and X Premium—introducing The X Subscription,” signaling a significant shift in how AI products will be accessed moving forward.
