Qatari, Kuwaiti FMs Condemn Houthi Attacks in Talks with Prince Faisal

In a show of regional solidarity, the Foreign Ministers of Qatar and Kuwait conveyed their strong condemnation of recent Houthi assaults on Saudi Arabia during separate phone conversations with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Tuesday.

Diplomatic Engagements on Regional Security

Prince Faisal held direct discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister. The officials exchanged views on the worsening security situation and reaffirmed their united stance against the Houthi militia’s aggressive actions targeting civilian sites within Saudi borders.

Both ministers emphasized ongoing collaboration and strategic consultations among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states as essential to maintaining regional stability and enhancing collective security measures.

Context and Significance for Pakistan

The coordination between Gulf states and their focus on combating threats posed by the Houthis carries broad implications beyond the Arabian Peninsula. Pakistan, home to a large expatriate workforce in the Gulf and a partner in regional security frameworks, monitors these developments closely. Stability in the Gulf ensures uninterrupted energy supplies and supports economic ties crucial for Pakistan’s interests.

As hostilities with the Houthis persist, such diplomatic interactions underline the importance of a unified GCC approach, which Pakistan observers view as vital for safeguarding peace in a geopolitically sensitive region.

“The clear message from Gulf neighbors is their unwavering commitment to counterterrorism and protecting civilians,” said a diplomatic analyst following the calls.
