USF Committee Approves Release of Rs 4.7b Fund

The Policy Committee of Universal Service Fund (USF) has approved the release of the 4th quarter budget amounting to Rs. 4.7 billion for the USF Company.

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, chaired the 49th Universal Service Fund (USF) Policy Committee meeting at the Ministry of IT’s committee room on Friday.

Secretary IT, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Mahmood, was also present at the meeting.

The meeting approved the release of the 4th quarter budget amounting to Rs. 4.7 billion for the USF Company. The chair was briefed on the ongoing USF projects.

The committee was informed that there are currently 33 ongoing USF projects, including 23 4G projects and 10 Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) projects.Mobile Phone Makers Urge FBR To Honour Commitments

Additionally, Minister Shaza Fatima presided over the 43rd Ignite Policy Committee meeting.

The committee approved the release of the 4th quarter budget of Rs. 318.88 million to Ignite. During the meeting, Ignite authorities briefed attendees about ongoing and future programs.

Minister Shaza Fatima directed that funds be utilized efficiently and projects completed within their respective timelines.
