ISLAMABAD: The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared mpox a global public health emergency following the emergence of a new, rapidly spreading variant of the viral disease in Africa.Major Overhaul in Health Ministry Amid Corruption Scandal

WHO officials reported the detection of this new variant in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has since spread to 13 neighboring African countries.

Mpox, a disease that can be transmitted through close contact between individuals, poses serious health risks, with fatal outcomes occurring in rare instances.
