Who Is Sohail Afridi, The Choice of Imran Khan
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has nominated Muhammad Sohail Afridi, a young politician from Khyber district, as the new Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sohail Afridi, born on July 12, 1989, represents the new generation of political leaders and will replace Ali Amin Gandapur as the provincial chief executive.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and entered active politics during the 2024 general elections as an independent candidate backed by PTI.
Afridi won the PK-70 Khyber-II seat with 31,649 votes, defeating Bilawal Afridi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz who secured only 7,401 votes.
Since joining the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on February 29, 2024, Afridi has earned recognition for his reform-oriented and dynamic leadership approach.
He was appointed Special Assistant for Communications and Works in August 2024, where he focused on infrastructure development and transparency in public projects.
Earlier, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja confirmed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur would soon be removed from his current position.
Reports suggested that senior party figures viewed Sohail Afridi KP nomination as a unifying step to restore discipline and cohesion in the provincial government.

According to sources, PTI founder Imran Khan and the party core committee endorsed Afridi as a symbol of renewal and youth-driven governance.
The nomination of Afridi has generated widespread attention in political circles as he represents the aspirations of younger leaders emerging from the tribal districts.
It is pertinent to mention here that he will be among the youngest chief ministers in the political history of the country.
The leadership shift comes after weeks of internal disputes, including serious differences between Gandapur and Imran Khan sister Aleema Khan over party matters.
Both traded strong allegations last week, further strengthening speculation about a widening rift within PTI and its core leadership structure.
Tensions escalated when Aleema accused Gandapur of attempting to defame her by associating her with the establishment to create divisions.
In response, Gandapur said that certain groups were running campaigns to promote Aleema as PTI chairperson, which could ultimately harm party unity.
