The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has announced a winter vacation for district courts, according to the media reports.

As per the details, the notification was issued by IHC Registrar Muhammad Yar with the approval of the Chief Justice.

According to the notice, district courts will remain closed from January 1 to January 8, 2026, and are scheduled to reopen on January 9, 2026.

Court offices, however, will remain operational during the holidays, and hearings of urgent and previously scheduled cases will continue as usual.

Earlier this week, the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) also declared its winter vacation, closing from December 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026.

Hearings are set to resume on January 5, 2026. The official notification clarified that FCC offices will remain functional, and urgent or previously scheduled cases will be heard during the break.

The Federal Constitutional Court was established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment to strengthen Pakistan’s judicial system and safeguard constitutional rights.

Its main role is to interpret the Constitution and resolve legal disputes of a constitutional nature.
