FBR, Telenor enter into a legal battle over disputed taxes
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) entered into a tussle with another telecom Operator-Telenor for not paying tax.
Earlier, FBR had entered into a battle with Jazz Pakistan over the nonpayment of tax dues.
In a recent move, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had issued a notice to Telenor over the nonpayment of taxes.
However, the company had termed it a disputed tax and filed a case in court against FBR.
It had challenged the tax claims filed by FBR against the company.

According to reports, FBR had frozen accounts of Norway-based Telenor over nonpayment of taxes that amount to Rs 3.5 billion.
Reports further revealed that FBR had issued several notices to Telenor to pay taxes.
In a statement, Telenor said that being a law-abiding and ethical corporate citizen, Telenor Pakistan takes a very responsible approach in discharging its due tax obligations in a timely manner.

It said that company had recently received a notice from the Federal Board of Revenue for the recovery of disputed tax demand.
“We have reservations about these alleged tax demands and have filed an intra court appeal at Islamabad High Court. Since the matter is currently sub judice, we cannot comment any further on this, the company said.
