Design Similarity Row Puts Maya Ali Brand Under Fire
Fashion industry has entered another debate after designer Faiza Saqlain accused actor-turned-entrepreneur Maya Ali’s label of copying her signature designs.
Faiza raised the matter through social media, where she shared direct visual comparisons of her earlier collections with recently launched outfits by Maya Ali’s brand.
She highlighted notable similarities in dress silhouettes, embroidery styles, color palettes, and even in the overall styling and photography direction seen in campaign shoots.
In her statement, Faiza questioned the originality of the pieces and remarked that such replication left her unsure whether to feel flattered or disappointed.
She further urged the label to develop designs that reflect its own creative identity rather than relying on concepts already established by other designers.

One pointed comparison involved a heavily embellished bridal ensemble from Maya’s Bus Tum collection closely mirroring a 2021 bridal design previously introduced by Faiza Saqlain.
Another example showed a velvet ombré sari from Maya’s Viola Luxe line that appeared strikingly similar in layout and detailing to Saqlain’s earlier work.
Additionally, observers noticed that a black peshwas from Maya’s latest campaign featured the same model who had appeared in Faiza’s 2023 promotional shoot.
These comparisons quickly spread online as fashion followers and supporters of Faiza Saqlain shared the posts and called the resemblances concerning and difficult to overlook.
Many users expressed disappointment and urged celebrity-owned fashion labels to uphold originality, transparency, and respect for creative ownership within the industry.
