Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc broke the long-standing record of Wasim Akram during the Pink-Ball Ashes Test against England in Brisbane.

Starc dismissed Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook in the day-night match, surpassing the record of 414 wickets of Akram in 104 Tests.

Starc reached 415 wickets in just 102 matches, becoming the highest-wicket taker among left-arm pacers in Test cricket.

He produced a sensational opening spell, dismissing Duckett and Pope for ducks, putting England under early pressure and setting the tone for the day.

Starc struck on the final ball of his first over, sending Duckett back with a full outswinger that edged to Marnus Labuschagne at slip.

In his next over, he dismissed Pope, who chopped the delivery onto his stumps.

With the wicket of Duckett, Starc now has 84 wickets in day-night Tests, the most by any bowler globally, 41 ahead of teammate Pat Cummins.

He also became the first bowler to take more than 20 wickets against a single team, England, in pink-ball Tests.

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat, while Australia fielded an all-pace attack, resting Nathan Lyon with Cummins unavailable.

When this news was filed, England were 181-4 in 41 overs. Zak Crawley led the innings with 76 runs off 93 balls, while Joe Root remained unbeaten on 61 off 99 deliveries.

Harry Brook contributed 24 before being dismissed for 31, with Ben Stokes and Root at the crease.
