Punjab Launches Free Critical Health Treatment

The Punjab government announced free treatment for cancer and cardiac patients, offering significant relief to those facing high costs.
The provincial government will cover full expenses for cancer treatment and cardiac surgeries through a newly introduced Special Initiative Card.
Under directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, each eligible patient will receive treatment worth up to one million rupees.
Officials stated that forty-five thousand patients will benefit in the first phase, reducing financial pressure from expensive medical procedures.
Maryam Nawaz also requested a detailed plan for timely treatment of stroke and paralysis cases across the province.
She set a 31 January deadline for operationalising the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology located in Sargodha.

The Secretary of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education briefed her on progress related to ongoing provincial health initiatives.
Earlier, Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the second phase of the Lahore Development Plan during a meeting focused on city improvements.
Under this phase, six thousand two hundred eighty-four streets will be upgraded throughout Lahore under municipal and WASA oversight.
She emphasised that no compromise on quality would be accepted and no delays in project completion would be tolerated.
Maryam Nawaz added that every part of Lahore would be restored with dignity and freed from visible deterioration.
