Pakistan rupee firms slightly in early trade

The Pakistan rupee edged higher against the US dollar on Monday morning and appreciated by 0.04% in early interbank trading.

Pakistani rupee was trading at 280.05 per dollar, which was up Rs0.12 from the previous close.

The marginal uptick followed a subdued but positive performance last week.The rupee gained Rs0.08, or 0.03%, against the US dollar.Pakistani Rupee Continues Gain

According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the rupee closed the week at 280.17, against 280.25 a week earlier.

The yen gained around 0.3% to 156.13 per dollar after falling 0.5% on Friday. The dollar index tracks the US dollar against a basket of major currencies. It slipped 0.1% to 97.96. The euro edged up 0.1% to $1.1780, which reflected subdued dollar demand and cautious risk appetite.

Brent crude futures climbed 0.92% to $61.20 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate gained 0.9% to $57.25.
