PCB Announces Major Changes for PSL 11

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League will replace the traditional player draft with a player auction system.
The PCB described the change as a historic move after a decade, saying it reflects the league’s growth, competitiveness, and commitment to innovation overall direction.
PCB said the auction model aims to enhance competitive balance, improve transparency, and provide players with greater earning opportunities across leagues.
Under the revised framework, each franchise may retain only four players, one per category, replacing the previous system that allowed eight retentions for team squads.

The PCB said rules related to mentors, brand ambassadors, and the Right to Match option have been abolished for PSL 11 under the new framework.
Newly inducted teams will be allowed to select and retain four players from the available pool before the auction begins as outlined in the statement.
Each franchise will also be permitted one direct signing of a foreign player who did not feature in PSL X during the previous league season.
The PCB said PSL 11 will begin on March 26, with Faisalabad added as an additional venue for league matches expanding the competition’s national footprint.
