Australia will complete preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a three-match T20 international series against Pakistan in Lahore at iconic Gaddafi Stadium.

All three matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium on January 29, January 31 and February 1 over four days during a short pre-World Cup.

The tour coincides with the final stages of Australia’s domestic T20 competition, the BBL, currently being contested across multiple cities nationwide this season.

Experienced batter Mitchell Marsh will captain Australia, joined by Travis Head, Cameron Green and Josh Ingllis from the recent Ashes series against England earlier this.

Several senior players will miss the tour, including Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Glenn Maxwell, Tim David and Nathan Ellis due to injury recovery and workload.

CA said Cummins, Hazlewood and David are still building fitness, while others have their workloads carefully managed following recent ailments.

To provide depth, several players including Sean Abbott, Mahli Beardman and Jack Edwards were added, with some joining after Big Bash duties conclude domestically this.

Australia’s selectors said the Pakistan series offers valuable experience for fringe and young players as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup later this year.
