Crimson Desert Update Adds Material Extraction, New Mounts
Pearl Abyss is set to release a significant update for its open-world game, Crimson Desert, within the coming days. The new patch will introduce innovative gameplay features such as a material extraction system and new special mounts, enhancing both gameplay mechanics and quality of life for players.
The extraction feature marks a notable addition, allowing players to recover materials previously spent on upgrading and refining equipment. This system aims to offer more flexibility and resource efficiency, although the exact refund rates and specific mechanics have yet to be revealed by the developers.
In addition to material extraction, players will be able to acquire new special mounts, expanding the game’s roster that currently includes unique creatures like the Polar Bear and the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex. These mounts are expected to diversify travel and combat experiences within the game world.
Pearl Abyss continues to adopt an agile, player-centric approach to post-launch support, deliberately foregoing a fixed update roadmap. Instead, updates are shaped by player feedback and in-game telemetry, a strategy that has been positively received and contributed to the game’s sales since its March 2026 launch.
This upcoming patch follows closely on the heels of a major May 1 update, which introduced the popular ‘Rematch’ and ‘Re-blockade’ systems. The Rematch system allows players to challenge defeated bosses again, with options to fight at the original difficulty or scale bosses to the player’s current level using the new ‘Resonate’ mode. Consumables used during these fights are refunded, though boss encounters do not currently yield loot, which Pearl Abyss may revisit based on feedback.
The Re-blockade feature addresses earlier endgame progression issues by giving players control over enemy respawn rates in cleared areas, enhancing the ability to revisit challenges and gather endgame loot. Currently, this feature applies to 23 forts and quarries, with plans to expand its scope over time.
As Crimson Desert evolves, Pearl Abyss’s responsive update strategy aims to sustain player engagement by continually refining game systems and introducing new content. Fans can expect the new material extraction and mounts to provide fresh tactical options soon.
