Drama Hadd Sparks Debate Over Unrealistic Salary Scene

The popular Pakistani drama series Hadd, which airs daily on Hum TV, has recently become the center of debate due to an unrealistic salary package depicted in one of its episodes. Produced by Momina Duraid Productions and directed by Zahid Iqbal, the show features a large ensemble cast including Nabeel Zuberi, Minsa Malik, and Arsalan Asad Butt, among others.

Hadd is known for its intense portrayal of how passionate love can sometimes lead to destructive outcomes and life-altering consequences. Each episode attracts an audience of around 2.5 million viewers, underscoring its popularity.

However, the drama faced widespread criticism on social media after a scene where a newly appointed employee is offered a salary package that many considered to be implausible. In the episode, a character playing the boss says, “This is a check for five hundred thousand dollars as a bonus, and after that, you will receive a salary of one million. Obviously, you will gain fame, more success, and more opportunities with time.” This statement raised questions and sparked ridicule among viewers due to the exceedingly high remuneration offered to an inexperienced employee.

Many viewers took to social media platforms to express their disbelief. One comment read, “Just want to clarify that 1 million is equal to 10 lac, thanks,” pointing out the local currency context. Another user commented, “Please tell this actor what 1 million means,” highlighting the confusion and perceived exaggeration. Some viewers taunted the drama’s portrayal, saying, “One million monthly salary, kuch over nahi ho gaya?” (Isn’t one million monthly salary a bit too much?) and criticized the dramatic exaggeration, “They brag so much in their dramas, read the comments here.”

The debate underscores the challenges Pakistani dramas face in balancing dramatic storytelling with realistic portrayals, especially when it comes to sensitive issues like salary and employment. While such narratives aim to captivate audiences, viewers increasingly call for more authenticity and relatability.

Hadd continues to engage its audience with its compelling storyline, even as conversations about its content and presentation remain lively.
