OGDCL Starts Production at Sahito-1 Gasfield in Sindh
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced production from the Sahito-1 gasfield located in Khairpur district, Sindh. The company confirmed that gas supply from the new field has been integrated into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network.
According to an official statement, Sahito-1 is currently generating 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Production levels are expected to increase progressively following planned expansions to the surface facilities.
To enable early monetization of this discovery, OGDCL constructed a 6-inch, 5-kilometer flowline connecting the Sahito-1 well to the Suleman Gathering Facility. From there, the gas is sent for processing at the Sinjhoro Plant before being injected into the SSGCL network.
OGDCL operates the Khewari Exploration License, holding a 75% working interest in the joint venture. Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) owns the remaining 25% stake.
This development is part of ongoing efforts to enhance domestic gas production and supply, potentially easing energy shortages in the region. The integration of Sahito-1 gasfield into the national infrastructure demonstrates progress in Pakistan’s energy sector and adds a new source of natural gas to the market.
