Metro Bus Service in Rawalpindi-Islamabad Temporarily Suspended

The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has announced a temporary suspension of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus service on June 23, 2026. The decision comes as authorities prepare for security and traffic arrangements related to the 7th Muharram observance.

According to the official advisory, metro bus operations will halt after 7:00 p.m. to accommodate special security measures surrounding Muharram processions and religious gatherings. This measure aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the significant religious event.

The PMTA also indicated that temporary route diversions and operational changes could be introduced on some sections of the metro bus corridor, depending on evolving security requirements and traffic management needs. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel ahead and seek alternative transportation during the affected hours.

Authorities have urged the public to stay informed through official announcements and cooperate with traffic police and security personnel actively managing the event. The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus is a critical transit service for thousands of daily passengers, and its temporary suspension may impact evening travel plans for many across the twin cities.

The PMTA’s prompt communication ensures that commuters are aware of the changes to avoid inconvenience while prioritizing safety amid Muharram related activities.
