Junior Cyber Defender Programme Launched for Children 7-14

The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (nCERT) has initiated the Junior Cyber Defender Programme aimed at children aged between 7 and 14 years. The programme is designed to promote early education in cybersecurity, focusing on essential skills such as protecting personal information and recognizing online risks.
Through this initiative, young participants are taught about the safe use of social media platforms and responsible online gaming practices. The objective is to equip children to navigate the digital world with greater caution and awareness.
Upon successful completion of the programme, children will receive an official certificate issued by the National Cyber Emergency Response Team, serving as recognition of their newly gained cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
In a related development, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched the NextGen Safety App under the youth-oriented initiatives led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This digital platform offers enhanced safety, wellbeing, and support services catering to young people across Punjab.
The NextGen Safety App provides emergency assistance, professional guidance, and safety features consolidated into one accessible platform. Users can quickly seek help during emergencies and receive essential support directly via their smartphones. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices.
Officials from PSCA described the app as part of broader efforts to leverage technology for improving public safety and expanding access to assistance, guidance, and protection services for the youth.
These initiatives exemplify the increasing focus on digital safety for younger demographics in Pakistan, aiming to foster a secure online environment and timely support mechanisms.
