Original Cast Choices Revealed for Zanjeerain Drama

Zanjeerain, the popular Pakistani drama airing on Hum TV, has captivated audiences with its portrayal of tribal culture and complex relationships. Directed by Shahzad Kashmiri and written by Farhat Ishtiaq, the drama is presented by Momina Duraid Productions. However, new insights reveal that the final lead cast was not the production’s initial plan.
According to TV critic Dr. Ejaz Waris, the role of Sar Buland Khan, currently played by Daniyal Zafar, was initially offered to Bilal Abbas Khan, who declined the part. Had Bilal Abbas Khan accepted, he and Sajal Aly, who plays the strong and resilient character Rabiya, would have formed the leading pair of the drama.
Another notable casting difference involved the character Zafran Khan. This role, now portrayed by Sehar Hashmi, was originally offered to veteran actor Nauman Ijaz. Additionally, Mamya Shajaffar was initially cast in Sehar Hashmi’s role and even completed one day of shooting before the decision to recast was made.
Dr. Ejaz Waris further noted that Sehar Hashmi’s character is expected to die midway through the story. After this plot twist, the narrative focus will primarily be on Usman, played by an unnamed actor, alongside Sajal Aly and Daniyal Zafar.
Fans have expressed mixed reactions to these revelations. While some viewers believed the original cast lineup would have taken the drama to a different level, others sympathized with Bilal Abbas Khan’s decision, speculating he may have preferred not to take a role with comparatively fewer scenes.
This casting background provides an intriguing glimpse into the production dynamics behind one of Pakistan’s engaging television dramas. Despite the initial casting changes, Zanjeerain continues to enjoy popularity among viewers for its storytelling and performances.
