Atiqa Odho Defends Nadia Khan’s Acting in Eid Telefilm

Nadia Khan, a well-known Pakistani television host and actress, recently faced criticism for her performance in Hum TV’s comedy Eid telefilm Zohra Jabeen. Viewers accused her of overacting, with some even questioning her acting abilities. However, Atiqa Odho, a respected actress, spoke out against this criticism during a weekly episode of Kya Drama Hai.

Atiqa Odho praised Nadia Khan’s performance, noting that she looked lovely on screen and complimenting the energy she brought to the role. Odho emphasized that the telefilm was a sitcom with a satirical format, which naturally demands a different acting style compared to serious dramas. She explained, “A comedy play has its own pace and pulse; it is unlike a serious drama. I don’t know why people reacted against it. Everyone was doing a great job, which was the requirement of the genre.”

Odho also commented on the show’s storyline, describing it as different but okay, though she mentioned that it lacked references to Eid, which she felt should have been included. She reflected on her own experience with similar roles, stating she had done a character like Zohra Jabeen before. Additionally, she appreciated the show’s nods to other famous dramas like Muamma and Ishq Murshid.

Nadia Khan, apart from her acting career, is widely recognized for her bold and candid opinions on current affairs and entertainment through her TV shows such as Kya Drama Hai and Rise and Shine. She also maintains a strong social media presence, including her popular YouTube channel OutStyle with Nadia and an Instagram following of over 2.5 million.

Zohra Jabeen was a high-rated telefilm in its time slot, eliciting mixed reactions. While some viewers welcomed the comedy, others did not appreciate the style of acting that is typical for satire and sitcoms. Atiqa Odho’s defense highlights the distinct challenges and expectations when acting in comedic roles, especially in formats designed to entertain during festive occasions like Eid.
