Petrol Price Hits Rs500 Per Litre in Balochistan Amid Shortage

The price of petrol has surged remarkably to Rs500 per litre in several districts of Balochistan, Pakistan, amidst a severe shortage of fuel supply. This sudden spike has impacted routine activities and transportation across the province.
Districts such as Naushki, Kharan, and Loralai are primarily affected, with local vendors reportedly charging as high as Rs500 per litre. Numerous petrol stations have been forced to shut down temporarily due to the unavailability of fuel, exacerbating the crisis.
In Quetta, the provincial capital, many filling stations have either closed or are experiencing long queues, forcing motorists to wait for extended periods. The disruption in fuel supply has caused significant inconvenience for daily commuters and has halted many transportation services.
Qayamuddin Agha, President of the Petroleum Dealers Association, confirmed that efforts have been made to increase the fuel supply from Shikarpur to alleviate the shortage. He expressed optimism that the situation would improve in the near future.
The Deputy Commissioner of Quetta attributed the current fuel supply disruption to the suspension of Iranian petrol imports, which have been a major source to fulfill the region’s demand. On Wednesday, around 60,000 litres of petrol were supplied to Quetta in an effort to stabilize the situation and reduce public pressure.
The shortage and price surge have raised concerns over the sustainability of fuel availability in Balochistan if the supply challenges persist. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are working to restore normalcy in the fuel supply chain.
