Lahore Traffic Police Detain Man Over Rs20 Lakh e-Challan Dues

Lahore Traffic Police recently apprehended an individual carrying outstanding e-challan fines exceeding Rs2.08 million. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to combat repeat traffic offenders in the city.

The suspect, Baz Muhammad, was stopped during a routine traffic inspection in Lahore. Upon checking vehicle registrations under his name, police discovered a surprisingly large number of 421 vehicles, comprising motorcycles and rickshaws.

Investigations revealed that these vehicles accumulated unpaid e-challan fines totaling Rs2,088,800, making Baz Muhammad one of the most heavily fined traffic defaulters the city has encountered.

Authorities confiscated the motorcycle the suspect was using and transferred it to the Muslim Town Police Station for further legal procedures. The Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) verified that all vehicles registered to Baz Muhammad have been blacklisted, effectively barring any transfer or registration until dues are settled.

CTO Rahim Shirazi commented that more than 100,000 vehicles have been blacklisted in Lahore as part of intensified measures against traffic violations. He emphasized the deployment of digital monitoring systems designed to identify and act against habitual defaulters who repeatedly neglect e-challan payments.

Officials underscored that this case serves as a deterrent and reassures the public that failure to pay traffic fines will lead to stringent consequences under the updated enforcement framework.

The ongoing crackdown by Lahore Traffic Police reflects a broader campaign to improve road discipline and ensure compliance with traffic laws through technological enhancements and administrative actions.
