Shah Rukh Khan Opens Knight Riders Cricket Ground in LA
Shah Rukh Khan, the renowned Bollywood actor and co-owner of the Knight Riders cricket franchise, inaugurated the newly constructed Knight Riders Cricket Ground in Los Angeles on July 3, 2026. The state-of-the-art venue marked a significant milestone in promoting cricket in the United States.
The inauguration ceremony was highlighted by hosting the first major cricket match between the Los Angeles Knight Riders and the Washington Freedom teams. Khan expressed his excitement over the accomplishment, calling it a fulfillment of a long-held dream.
“What started as a dream has become a reality today. Bringing cricket, the second most-watched sport in the world, to Los Angeles is a landmark moment for all of us,” Khan said during the event. He emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Knight Riders franchise and Fairplex, which made building the venue possible.
Khan further explained, “Through this long-term partnership between Fairplex and Knight Riders, we are creating much more than a cricket venue. We are building a space that celebrates community, togetherness, energy, and entertainment. This ground is not just for sport but also serves as a place for families and for memories that will last forever.” He expressed hope that the facility would become a home for cricket enthusiasts in Los Angeles and inspire future generations of players and fans.
The newly established stadium is noted as the first international-standard cricket ground developed by a global cricket franchise in the United States. It features eight wickets on the main pitch, playing dimensions compliant with ICC standards, and six floodlight towers to enable day-night matches.
This development represents a growing interest in cricket within the U.S. and the Knight Riders’ commitment to expanding the sport’s footprint globally. The venue aims to host further cricket events and foster community engagement through sports and entertainment.
