LinkedIn Rolls Out Pre-Roll Ads and Paid Advice Sessions

LinkedIn has introduced new monetization options for content creators, allowing them to generate income without selling products directly. Among the newly launched features are pre-roll video advertisements and paid one-on-one consultations called Advice Sessions.

Monetization Through Pre-Roll Ads

The pre-roll ad program enables marketers to place short advertisements before relevant videos created by top creators or publishers. Those creators who participate receive a share of the revenue generated from these promotional ads, encouraging more professional content creation. Although currently in an initial testing phase, this initiative complements LinkedIn’s existing advertising programs like BrandLink and Thought Leader Ads. Creators must opt in and register to have their videos eligible for these brand collaborations.

Paid Advice Sessions for Premium Members

Another significant feature is Advice Sessions, which grant LinkedIn Premium subscribers the ability to offer paid or free personalized consultations directly through their profiles. This provides a unique avenue for verified experts to monetize their knowledge by charging for sessions using LinkedIn’s secure payment gateway. At present, Advice Sessions are available only to users based in the United States, but LinkedIn has plans to extend the service globally. Verification of profile authenticity is a prerequisite, ensuring clients can trust the credentials of consulting professionals.

Additional Enhancements for Creators

In addition to new monetization routes, LinkedIn has reinstated the ability for post authors to pin comments on their posts—a feature briefly tested in 2022—enabling better management of discussions. The Creator Marketplace was also enhanced with advanced search filters, helping brands discover creators by criteria such as audience type, expertise, and preferred content formats. LinkedIn is also working on a dedicated experts showcase page to facilitate easier access to consultants across various fields. Furthermore, it updated profile insights dashboards and introduced private notes for managing contact details.

These updates position LinkedIn as a more supportive platform for creators looking to transform their content into sustainable income sources. For users in Pakistan, these changes highlight the growing importance of professional networking and digital expertise in the evolving job market. As LinkedIn extends such features, local professionals and entrepreneurs can explore new digital revenue streams and enhance their online presence.

LinkedIn product manager stated, “We aim to empower creators by providing new ways to monetize and engage with their audiences.”
