Anmol Pinky Disowns Lawyer During Karachi Court Hearing
Karachi: Anmol Pinky, accused in a cocaine trafficking case, publicly disowned one of her attorneys during a hearing at the City Court in Karachi on Saturday. The incident took place amid tense courtroom proceedings where Pinky appeared visibly distressed.
During the hearing, three lawyers attended on behalf of Anmol Pinky: Mir Hidayat, Liaquat Gabol, and Zafar Jadoon. However, Pinky explicitly disassociated herself from Liaquat Gabol, stating in court, “My lawyers are Mir Hidayat and Zafar Jadoon,” signaling her refusal to accept Gabol’s representation. Despite her rejection, Liaquat Gabol continued to argue the case before the magistrate.
Anmol Pinky’s behaviour in court was marked by anxiety and agitation. Eyewitnesses reported that upon entering the courtroom, she repeatedly asked if anyone present had been sent by an individual she referred to as “Baba.” Her questions were directed at lawyers and others inside the courtroom, as she looked around searching for this person. When a lawyer denied having any contact with “Baba,” Pinky’s anxiety seemed to increase.
The accused also attempted to make a phone call using a lawyer’s mobile device, but police officials prevented the attempt. Her persistent efforts to locate and communicate with this unidentified figure attracted attention throughout the hearing.
Additionally, Anmol Pinky alleged mistreatment and false allegations during court proceedings. She claimed to have been tortured and implicated in fabricated charges, asserting that she was targeted and beaten during interrogations. Pinky also stated that her family was being unfairly targeted as well and denied any wrongdoing in the drug-related accusations.
“I was beaten and false cases were registered against me,” she told the court, further asserting that she had been brought from Lahore and falsely implicated in multiple cases in Karachi, where drugs were allegedly planted on her.
The hearing highlighted not only procedural developments in a high-profile drug case but also brought attention to Pinky’s claims of coercion and mistreatment. The case continues to unfold as authorities proceed with investigations and legal steps.
