Geely Auto Launches in Pakistan with Bestway Group

Chinese automaker Geely Auto has officially entered the Pakistani market through a partnership with the Bestway Group. The formal launch event was held recently in Islamabad, marking the company’s strategic expansion into South Asia.

Geely’s Entry and Bestway’s Role

The collaboration designates Bestway Automotive as the exclusive distributor of Geely vehicles in Pakistan. Bestway will be responsible for all aspects of sales and after-sales service, while also preparing to locally assemble Geely cars in Karachi. This development is expected to bring cutting-edge automotive technology to Pakistani consumers and stimulate the domestic automotive industry.

Vehicle Portfolio for Pakistani Buyers

At the event, Geely introduced three models catering to diverse needs. The portfolio includes the Geely EX2, a compact and fully electric hatchback suited for urban environments, the EX5, an electric sport utility vehicle, and the Starray EM-R, a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) that combines electric propulsion with a petrol engine for extended driving range. These offerings reflect Geely’s commitment to innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.

Economic Impact and Future Prospects

Bestway Group has invested over $350 million in Pakistan over the past three years in various sectors such as cement production and banking, creating more than 20,000 jobs. This partnership with Geely is set to further enhance job opportunities and support the growth of the local automotive supply chain. The move also aligns with Pakistan’s growing emphasis on electric vehicle adoption and domestic manufacturing capacity.

Bestway’s Group Managing Director Irfan Sheikh highlighted the complementary strengths of the partnership, emphasizing the blend of Bestway’s local market expertise with Geely’s global automotive experience. Geely’s Vice President for ASEAN, Evin Ye, underscored the significance of Pakistan as Geely’s first market in South Asia and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to delivering safe and intelligent vehicles to Pakistani families.

This launch is timely for Pakistan as the government promotes electric vehicles and plans infrastructure development, potentially making Geely a significant player in the country’s evolving automotive landscape.
