Voyah Unveils New Coupe SUV with Advanced LiDAR Tech
Voyah, the premium electric vehicle (EV) marque under Dongfeng Motor, is expanding its lineup with a new coupe SUV model, internally identified as the FE. The brand has released teaser images hinting at sophisticated technology integration, including Huawei’s cutting-edge 896-channel LiDAR system.
The upcoming model, expected to launch mid-year, is designed to enhance Voyah’s presence in the premium EV segment. The text on the teaser images reveals the SUV will incorporate the Huawei 896-channel LiDAR, which was introduced in March by Huawei’s Qiankun business unit as the highest-specification LiDAR mass produced globally to date. This sensor, combined with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 assisted driving system, will markedly improve the vehicle’s obstacle detection capabilities, identifying objects as small as 14 centimeters from distances up to 120 meters, even in challenging weather conditions. Additional safety is afforded by three extra LiDAR units on the vehicle.
The introduction of the FE coupe SUV follows Voyah’s recent success with the Taishan X8, a large five-seater SUV available with plug-in hybrid and pure electric powertrain options. Pre-sales for the Taishan X8 began on April 22, with an official launch set for May 22. The vehicle is also equipped with the Huawei 896-channel LiDAR system and three additional LiDARs, contributing to robust environmental awareness capabilities. Remarkably, orders for the Taishan X8 surpassed 40,000 units within just 13 days of pre-sales opening.
Voyah’s portfolio currently includes SUVs, MPVs, and sedans under its premium NEV banner, with prominent models like the Voyah Passion series sedans, Voyah Free series SUVs, and Voyah Dream series MPVs. The introduction of the FE coupe SUV represents a strategic move to diversify and enrich the brand’s product offerings.
Highlighting the brand’s growing market traction, Voyah’s global deliveries in April 2026 experienced a 51% year-on-year increase, reaching 15,146 units. This upward trend underscores the increasing acceptance of Voyah’s premium EV models within the broader market.
