BYD Unveils Second-Gen Seal 07 with 20-Speaker Audio System
Chinese automaker BYD has showcased the revamped interior of its second-generation Seal 07 electric sedan, highlighting a modernized cabin that features a high-end 20-speaker Devialet sound setup. This new model represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor, combining advanced technology with enhanced luxury elements.
Updated Interior Design and Features
The redesigned cabin, named the “Ocean Rhythm” cockpit, presents a cleaner and more spacious layout inspired by BYD’s ocean-themed design language. BYD has replaced the previous circular crystal gear selector with an electronic stalk mounted behind the steering wheel, clearing space on the center console for dual angled wireless charging pads, metallic toggle switches, and dual cup holders.
The driver benefits from a digital instrument cluster paired with a flat-bottom steering wheel and a dashboard recess that hosts a head-up display. Despite the minimalistic approach, BYD retains essential physical controls, avoiding a fully touchscreen-dependent setup for user convenience.
Front occupants enjoy heated, ventilated, and pneumatic massage seats described as “zero-gravity” for enhanced comfort, while rear passengers experience improved backrests and additional legroom thanks to an extended 2,960 mm wheelbase—60 mm longer than the previous model.
Prominent 20-Speaker Devialet Audio System
One of the standout interior features is the integrated Devialet sound system, comprising 20 speakers strategically embedded throughout the cabin. BYD has given the speaker grilles a refined look with laser-etched metallic finishes, making them a visible part of the interior design rather than hidden behind traditional trims. This premium audio system aims to elevate the in-cabin entertainment experience to a new level.
Dimension and Powertrain Improvements
The second-gen Seal 07 is larger overall, measuring 5,080 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height. The wheelbase increase contributes to the more spacious interior. It sports BYD’s latest Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 exterior styling, including split, wave-shaped headlights and full-width taillights, lending it a modern and futuristic appearance.
BYD will offer two battery-electric variants and a plug-in hybrid version. The standard EV features a 245 kW rear motor paired with a 76.744 kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 775 km in China’s CLTC test cycle. The higher-tier EV model upgrades the motor to 300 kW with an 88.682 kWh battery for an extended range of 875 km CLTC.
The plug-in hybrid, called the Seal 07 DM-i, merges a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with a 160 kW electric motor and a sizable 38.029 kWh battery, enabling up to 245 km of purely electric driving on the WLTC cycle.
What This Means for Pakistan’s Auto Market
While the Seal 07 variant unveiled is specific to the Chinese market and differs from the BYD Seal currently available in Pakistan, it highlights BYD’s rapid development pace and increasing focus on premium electric sedans. The company’s expansion in Pakistan with various EV and plug-in hybrid models, alongside plans for local assembly, signals greater accessibility of advanced green vehicles for Pakistani consumers.
The enhanced interior comfort and cutting-edge audio technology may influence future models assembled or imported into Pakistan, offering local buyers an improved driving experience. As electric vehicle competition intensifies globally, innovations like BYD’s next-gen Seal 07 help push the boundaries of what is expected in terms of technology, comfort, and driving range.
According to BYD’s official statement, the new cockpit concept “brings a fresh layer of refinement and technological integration” to the large electric sedan segment.
