Government Pushes Digital Access Across Punjab

Punjab has extended the Chief Minister Free WiFi initiative to twenty-three districts, aiming to provide accessible and reliable internet connectivity at hundreds of public locations across the province.

According to the Safe City Authority, the service is currently available at four hundred and forty-two sites in Lahore, where millions of residents benefit daily.

Data released by officials revealed that more than fifty-eight million users have already consumed one thousand one hundred and ninety-one terabytes through the connectivity programme.

Authorities confirmed that nine hundred and fifty-two key spots across Punjab districts now feature free internet access, supporting students, commuters, professionals, and small businesses alike.

Meanwhile, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced that forty railway stations in Punjab will soon be equipped with free WiFi under the digital expansion drive.

Abbasi further highlighted that three hundred and fifty billion rupees will be invested to upgrade eight branch railway routes as part of ongoing reforms.

He added that the ML-1 railway corridor remains central to development plans, alongside efforts to improve governance and integrate advanced digital systems across the network.
