Here is How Much a New RLNG Gas Connection Will Cost
The government has introduced a new fee structure for domestic re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) connections, marking a major shift in the country’s energy supply policy.
A notification from the Petroleum Division stated that all new gas connections will now be RLNG-based. This follows a federal cabinet decision to impose a permanent ban on new connections using indigenous natural gas. As a result, almost three million pending applications for conventional gas supply will be cancelled.
For new RLNG connections, the government has fixed a security fee of Rs20,000. Service charges will be Rs1,500 for homes up to 10 marlas, while larger houses will pay Rs3,000. The total cost of obtaining a connection is Rs21,500 for standard homes and Rs23,000 for larger ones.

In addition, applicants can pay an “urgent fee” to get their connections installed within three months. Both Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) will process applications under this framework. Each company will be permitted to provide up to 50 percent of connections annually to those paying the urgent fee.
However, consumers should be prepared for higher bills. RLNG tariffs will be 70 percent more expensive than conventional domestic gas rates. Officials said the shift is aimed at addressing supply shortages and reducing dependence on depleting local reserves.
Households whose gas connections have been disconnected for more than a year will only be reconnected through RLNG supply.
