ECC approves increase in gas Prices up to 34%
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Monday approved a hike in gas prices by up to 34 percent to fulfill its commitment to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The government has increased gas prices for commercial users by 29% to Rs 1650/MMBtu.It raised up to 34 percent for exporters to Rs 1100/MMBtu.
The ECC also raised gas prices for general industries, up by 13.9% to Rs 1200/MMBtu and 32% for CNG to Rs 1805/MMBtu.

Domestic consumers
The gas price for protected domestic consumers will be a minimum of Rs.121 and a maximum of Rs.200 per MMBtu.
The gas prices for Unprotected domestic consumers will be a minimum of Rs 200 per MMBtu and a maximum of Rs. 3000 per MMBtu.
As many as four slabs fall in the protected category whereas 8 slabs are in the unprotected category.
