K2 Airways Cargo Plane Missing Near Karachi After Losing Contact

Karachi authorities have initiated a search operation after a K2 Airways cargo plane went overdue while en route from Sharjah to Karachi. The Boeing 737 cargo aircraft lost contact and failed to land as scheduled, with initial data indicating a sudden drop in altitude prior to disappearing from radar.
According to Flightradar24, the aircraft, registered as AP-BOI and operating as flight KTA1732, last transmitted an ADS-B signal around 16:21 UTC at approximately 1,100 feet above sea level. The data recorded a steep vertical descent of -22,400 feet per minute. The flight path showed an initial descent, followed by a brief climb before entering a second rapid descent.
Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) officials confirmed the loss of contact occurred at about 9:32 pm while the plane was roughly 155 nautical miles west of Karachi. Reports indicate the cargo plane had reported a malfunction with its navigation system during flight.
The manifest documented five crew members on board, including the captain, the first officer, a load master, and two aircraft engineers. The PAA has activated its Rescue Coordination Centre to lead and coordinate the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-4M0(BDSF), initially served as a passenger plane before being converted into a freighter. It joined K2 Airways’ fleet earlier in 2024.
At this point, the search is active, but the fate of the aircraft and crew remains unconfirmed. Authorities continue to investigate the incident as more information becomes available.
