KE consumers are likely to witness a Rs 4.83 per unit increase in their electricity bills on account of fuel adjustment.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) indicated an increase in power tariff by Rs 4.83 per unit for kE consumers.
The increase will apply to consumers in Karachi.

K-Electric requested an increase in electricity tariff by Rs5.27 per unit on account of fuel adjustment for March 2022.
The regulator indicated Rs 4.83 per unit increase according to the scrutiny of data by Nepra.

The power regulator would issue a decision later after the scrutiny of KE data.
NEPRA had set April 27 date to consider K-Electric’s application.
The power regulator will decide about the KE’s request in a detailed decision.
The power consumers of Karachi may bear an Rs 8.59 billion additional burden.
KE spokesperson said the price of furnace oil rose by 10%.
Meanwhile, the price of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) went up by 40%.
The price of electricity purchased from CPPA-G also witnessed an increase of 9% in March.
These price shocks led to an increase in the electricity rate for KE consumers.
The KE will increase the prices of electricity following a decision of Nepra for one month only.
The K-Electric had filed a petition earlier to hike electricity prices by Rs4.87 per unit for March.
It filed a revised request later for the Month and requested an Rs5.27 per unit increase in the tariff.
NEPRA had already notified an Rs3.278 per unit increase in tariff K-Electric consumers for January 2022.
An increase in tariff had led to putting a Rs 3.58 billion additional burden on the citizens of Karachi due to increase in electricity prices for KE consumers.
The higher prices in the global market had also impacted the prices of electricity in Pakistan.
The power plants in Pakistan use furnace oil, coal, indigenous gas and imported gas.
Therefore, prices in the global market cause a hike in electricity rates in Pakistan.
