Orange Line Train And Metrobus Services Restored in Punjab
Lahore public transport network has returned to normal as Orange Line Metro Train and Metrobus services resumed operations after several days of suspension.
The suspension was imposed due to security and traffic restrictions that disrupted travel across key areas of the city last week, according to officials.
The Punjab Mass Transit Authority stated that both services were halted when several important routes were closed following heightened security measures in various parts of Lahore.
The authority confirmed that Orange Line service resumed on Tuesday after a five day break, while Metrobus operations restarted a day earlier after four days.
Officials said the temporary suspension was purely precautionary and aimed at maintaining public safety during a period of heightened uncertainty in the city.
With the situation improving, both trains and buses are now running on their full routes, allowing thousands of commuters to resume normal travel activities.
The PMTA stated that operations were resumed only after a comprehensive assessment of law and order conditions and the overall traffic situation in Lahore.
It added that all required safety inspections and system checks were completed before reopening both services to the general public for travel.
In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the Metrobus service has been partially restored after several days of complete suspension due to security restrictions.

Currently, buses are operating between Saddar and Kashmir Highway, while the section from Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station to Pak Secretariat remains closed.
Authorities explained that the suspension in Islamabad had lasted for four days amid protests by a religious group under district administration orders.
Security remains on high alert in Islamabad, with additional police forces deployed in sensitive zones to prevent unrest or potential disruption.
Islamabad Police stated that all operational units are fully prepared to maintain peace and respond immediately in case of any untoward incident.
The district administration clarified that no major roads are blocked, though slow traffic persists in some areas because of diversions and security checks.
In Lahore, several major roads including Daroghawala to Salamat Pura, Aiwan e Adal to PMG, and Chungi Amar Sidhu Road were earlier closed.
Authorities said those routes have now been reopened for traffic, significantly improving movement and easing congestion across the provincial capital.
The complete restoration of Orange Line and Metrobus services has brought relief to thousands of commuters who depend on them for daily affordable travel.
