Overseas Pakistanis Included in PM Apna Ghar Housing Scheme

The federal government of Pakistan has expanded the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar housing finance programme to formally include overseas Pakistanis. This decision marks an important step in broadening access to affordable housing finance for a wider range of investors.
The expansion was approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division. The revised framework aims to scale up housing finance outreach under the scheme through various mechanisms including institutional financing, public-private partnerships, and increased involvement of non-banking financial institutions.
A significant feature of the updated programme is the active inclusion of overseas Pakistanis, allowing them to invest in and benefit from the housing initiative. Authorities indicated that this move intends to enhance access to housing finance and accelerate progress towards achieving the country’s national housing targets.
By encouraging a wider pool of investors, the government aims to increase funding availability for affordable housing projects across Pakistan. This is expected to strengthen long-term investment in the housing sector while supporting broader economic activities linked to construction and real estate development.
Overall, the expansion of the Apna Ghar scheme reflects Pakistan’s commitment to developing sustainable housing finance solutions and engaging its diaspora community in national development efforts.
