Pakistan Embassies Resume Passport Services Abroad

Pakistan’s diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have restored passport services following a temporary suspension. The disruption was caused by technical issues at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports headquarters in Islamabad.
Official notifications from the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh and the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi announced the resumption of passport operations on May 5, 2026. Pakistani nationals requiring passport issuance or renewal can now visit these embassies during the designated hours to access the services.
The suspension affected passport processing at foreign missions due to system maintenance and technical difficulties at the central processing center in Islamabad. During this period, applicants were advised to either apply online or await further updates from embassy officials. The embassies also reassured the public that passport services would recommence as soon as the issues were resolved.
Officials from the embassies stated that the resumption of these services will aid in addressing the backlog of pending applications and better serve Pakistani citizens overseas. They emphasized the importance of consulting official embassy platforms for updated information regarding office hours and application procedures before visiting the missions.
This development is expected to ease travel documentation concerns for Pakistanis residing or traveling abroad. The temporary suspension had posed challenges, but the prompt resolution reflects ongoing efforts to maintain smooth consular operations.
Applicants are encouraged to stay informed through embassy announcements to ensure a seamless passport application experience moving forward.
