Punjab Introduces Revised Fee for Emission Testing
In a bid to combat worsening air pollution, the Punjab government has introduced a revised fee structure for vehicle emission testing, effective from November 10, 2025.
According to the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department, the initiative aims to curb smog and improve air quality through a new engine-based fee structure.
Under the revised rates, vehicles up to 1,000cc will be charged Rs500, while those between 1,001cc and 1,500cc will pay Rs800.
Motorists owning vehicles with engines between 1,501cc and 2,500cc will be required to pay Rs1,000, whereas cars with engines from 2,501cc to 4,500cc will be charged Rs1,500.
Vehicles exceeding 4,500cc will incur a fee of Rs2,000. The department has made digital payment mandatory through the e-Pay system.

After making the payment, vehicle owners will get a confirmation message on their registered mobile numbers from the official e-Pay system.
Drivers are required to carry their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) when appearing for the emission test to verify ownership and complete registration.
Spokesperson stated that the initiative seeks to keep only environmentally compliant vehicles on roads, minimizing harmful emissions and combating severe winter smog.
While citizens welcomed the move as an environmental step, several urged the government to enhance testing facilities and review fee rates for easier compliance.
Vehicle owners have been directed to complete the emission test by November 15, 2025. After the deadline, those without a valid green sticker will face fines.
