Punjab Revises Syllabus for Grades One to Three

The Punjab School Education Department has introduced a revised syllabus for grades one to three, aiming to simplify lessons and strengthen conceptual learning.

As per the officials, the new curriculum emphasizes essential learning outcomes while eliminating repetitive and unnecessary topics that previously burdened young students.

The updated syllabus seeks to make early education more engaging, effective, and aligned with children’s cognitive abilities and classroom needs.

Education authorities believe this change will improve comprehension levels and help teachers focus on building stronger academic foundations at the primary stage.

The revision aligns with the broader vision of the provincial government to make schooling more practical, inclusive, and outcome-oriented for students across Punjab.

In addition to primary curriculum updates, the Punjab Examination Commission for Textbook and Curriculum Authority (PECTA) has issued a corrected grade nine syllabus.

The revised edition addresses multiple subject-level errors identified in earlier versions, particularly in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Computer Science.

Officials stated that these corrections aim to standardize learning materials and ensure uniform academic quality across public and private schools.

The curriculum reform plan of PECTA will continue next week with the release of the updated syllabus for grade eleven students.

With this reform, Punjab moves closer to developing an education system that emphasizes clarity, creativity, and conceptual learning from the earliest grades.
