How to Apply for RLNG Gas Connections Online (2026)
SNGPL has reopened new domestic gas connections, but almost all new applicants are now issued under the RLNG (Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) tariff rather than conventional system gas. Here’s the current application process, fees, and important notices, verified as of August 2026.
Important: Old System Gas Applications Are Cancelled
If you applied for a system gas connection before 2022, SNGPL officially cancelled those old merit-list positions (confirmed by Dawn in September 2025). Your old application number no longer works — you must submit a fresh application under the current RLNG scheme.
RLNG vs. System Gas
RLNG is imported gas, liquefied and delivered through the same pipeline network as local system gas. It works identically in your stove, geyser, and heater — the only difference is the tariff, which runs roughly 70% higher than conventional system gas per unit.
How to Apply
- Submit your application through SNGPL’s official channels (online portal or regional office) — there is no fee for submission itself
- Attach required documents: CNIC (front and back), property ownership proof, a recent neighbor’s gas bill copy, and an affidavit where required
- Wait for SNGPL’s site survey
- Receive your demand notice with the exact charges for your specific location
- Pay the demand notice amount via JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank branch, or 1-Link ATM
- Wait for meter installation
Current Fees (2026)
- Security deposit: approximately Rs. 20,000 (refundable)
- Total RLNG connection charges: roughly Rs. 40,000– 50,000, though your exact amount depends on your location and distance from the nearest gas line, as shown on your demand notice
- Fast-track (urgent) fee: approximately Rs. 25,000 in addition to standard charges, for expedited processing
Always pay based on the exact amount on your official demand notice, not an estimate — charges vary by location and are subject to change per OGRA notifications.
How to Track Your Application
- Visit SNGPL’s official website and use your 11-digit Tracking ID or CNIC under “Status of New Connection”
- Send an SMS with your application number to 0921 for an instant status update
- Call the helpline at 1199 for a location-specific estimate or assistance
Realistic Timelines
- Fast-track, urban areas: typically 2–4 months after payment
- Normal merit: can take several months to over a year, depending on your area and local office backlog
- Rural areas: generally slower, since gas lines may need extension to reach your property
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still get a system gas (non-RLNG) connection?
Generally no — system gas connections are now reserved almost exclusively for very old pending applications. Nearly all new domestic connections are issued under the RLNG tariff.
Is the RLNG security deposit refundable?
Yes, the approximately Rs. 20,000 security deposit is refundable per SNGPL’s policy.
What happens if I don’t pay my demand notice quickly?
Delayed payment can push your installation date back by weeks, since processing follows a first-come, first-served basis after payment verification.
