Swedish tech companies to invest in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Sweden in Pakistan Henrik Persson said on Thursday that the Swedish tech companies wanted to invest in Pakistan.
Swedish delegation led by Ambassador of Sweden in Pakistan Henrik Persson called on Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque here and discussed investment of tech companies.
They discussed matters of mutual interest and related to IT and Telecommunication, connectivity, and digitalization during the meeting.
Federal Secretary Ministry of IT & Telecom Dr. Sohail Rajput, Chairman PTA Maj Gen (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa, Executive Director Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) Brig (Retd) Muhammad Tahir Ahmed Khan, and senior officers of the Ministry of IT were also present on the occasion.
They agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of IT and telecommunications with Swedish tech companies in Pakistan.
Talking to Ambassador of Sweden, Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque said that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Sweden as the collaboration between the two countries in the field of IT and Telecommunication is vital.

He said that the IT and telecom sector of Pakistan is rapidly growing and our IT experts are also increasing. Therefore, he said Pakistan offered a lot of opportunities for Swedish tech companies to invest in Pakistan.
The Federal Minister said that while considering Sweden is one of the leading technology developers in Big Data & Analytical solutions, IoT solutions, and Artificial Intelligence, Pakistan wanted to get benefit from Sweden’s experiences in the field of technology.
He also aspired that the two countries devise a mechanism for offering access to Pakistani freelancers on Swedish freelancing platforms on a preferential basis.
Syed Amin Ul Haque said that Pakistan committed to ending the digital divide between rural and urban areas of the country. Government is taking strong measures to provide telecom services through Universal Service Fund (USF) across the country, he added.
He urged the Swedish tech companies to invest in Pakistan as the environment for investment in the country is conducive.
The Swedish Ambassador appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of IT for the progress of the IT and Telecom sector of Pakistan. He also informed that the Swedish technology companies were keen to invest in Pakistan.
