Pakistan Offers Subsidy to Boost Electric Scooter Sales

The government has rolled out incentives under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification scheme, offering citizens easy access to electric scooters through subsidised and interest-free instalment plans.

Three popular Yadea models, including M3H, T5L, and VELAX, are now part of the scheme, each supported by a direct government subsidy of Rs50,000.

Buyers can spread payments over twenty-four monthly instalments without additional mark-up, making ownership of electric scooters affordable for households across urban and semi-urban regions of the country.

Every scooter is backed by a four-year or fifty thousand kilometre warranty, assuring customers of long-term usage, lower maintenance costs, and greater reliability.

Officials said the initiative aims to support local industries, promote sustainable mobility, and address pollution challenges that continue to intensify across densely populated Pakistani cities.

Registration for the scheme is available online through pave.gov.pk/register, where applicants can submit their details including CNIC, address, and other basic information for verification.

Authorities expressed hope that this programme will accelerate adoption of green vehicles and strengthen Pakistan’s transition toward a cleaner and more energy-efficient transport system.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has approved the establishment of electric vehicle charging stations in commercial zones, removing previous procedural hurdles that slowed infrastructure development.

The Local Government Department has abolished the requirement for District Design Committee approval, allowing businesses to set up charging stations without additional clearance.

Officials said the reform aligns with Pakistan’s national electric vehicle policy, which targets 30 percent sales by 2030 to encourage cleaner transport options and reduce environmental impact.

The policy aims to cut 4.5 million tons of emissions, save two billion liters of oil, and generate 15,000 new green jobs.
