SAIC Audi Launches Pre-Sales for China-Exclusive E7X SUV

SAIC Audi has initiated pre-sales for the AUDI E7X, an electric SUV tailored exclusively for the Chinese market that prominently features Chinese technology integrations. The E7X serves as the brand’s second production model, following the E5 Sportback, and is positioned as a key offering in Audi’s strategic push into China’s expansive electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Priced starting at 289,800 yuan (approximately $42,610), the AUDI E7X made its debut at the 2026 Auto China event in Beijing last month. The SUV blends Audi’s established driving performance with advanced local technological innovations designed to appeal to a new generation of tech-savvy Chinese consumers.
The vehicle’s exterior dimensions measure 5,049 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. Structurally, it is equipped with a 109-kWh battery pack manufactured by CATL, one of China’s leading battery makers, which supports a 900-volt high-voltage system. This configuration enables the E7X to achieve a range of up to 751 kilometers under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). Additionally, fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to recover up to 429 kilometers of range within just ten minutes.
The E7X is outfitted with a smart driving system developed by Momenta, a Chinese autonomous driving startup. This technology supports complex autonomous functions such as maneuvering through narrow roads and highway ramp merging, enhancing the vehicle’s capability in diverse driving environments. Inside, the SUV features the AI-driven Audi Assistant 2.0 and incorporates ByteDance’s Doubao AI model to enhance user interactivity.
Despite the integration of Chinese components and software, the E7X maintains Audi’s hallmark driving characteristics. The dual-motor variant accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and includes the brand’s renowned quattro all-wheel-drive system, emphasizing performance and handling.
The AUDI E7X is part of the first wave of Audi’s product expansion under the dedicated AUDI brand, which was introduced jointly by Audi and SAIC in November 2024 to capture the growing demand for premium electric vehicles in China. Future plans include the release of a third new model in 2027 as part of this series.
Alongside product developments, Audi and SAIC recently reinforced their partnership by signing an agreement to establish an innovation and technology center in Shanghai. This facility will focus on vehicle research and development using the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), and will support the creation of at least four new AUDI brand models slated for launch over the coming years. This strategic collaboration underscores Audi’s commitment to deepening its presence within China’s competitive EV landscape.
