Li Auto Unveils Li 6 EV at 2026 Paris Motor Show
Chinese automaker Li Auto unveiled its Li 6 electric SUV at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, marking the company’s first official entry into the European market. Previously known as the Li i6 in China, the vehicle has been rebranded as the Li 6 for overseas sales.
Overview of the Li 6 Electric SUV
The Li 6 is a spacious five-seater SUV designed on a dedicated battery-electric platform featuring an 800V electrical system with fast-charging ability. Measuring 4,950 mm in length and based on a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the large electric crossover is tailored specifically for European driving conditions with chassis adjustments and a suite of software customized for local markets.
The SUV is powered by either a single rear-wheel-drive motor delivering 250 kW (335 hp) or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant producing up to 400 kW (536 hp). While official WLTP-certified range figures for Europe are yet to be released, estimates suggest the Li 6 could achieve around 640 km on a full charge.
Technology and Features for the European Market
Inside, the Li 6 boasts a highly digitalized cabin dominated by a 29-inch display panel extending across the dashboard. European consumers will benefit from localized software supporting eight languages and integrated connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay and Spotify. Advanced features from the Chinese model, including zero-gravity front seats and a large rear entertainment screen, may be selectively adapted based on regional regulations.
Strategic Launch and Future Plans
Li Auto plans to commence sales in the Netherlands and Norway starting in the first quarter of 2027, with expansion into additional European countries planned thereafter. To back this rollout, the company is setting up a regional parts distribution center in the Netherlands along with roadside assistance and a customer service call center by December 2026.
Looking ahead, Li Auto has committed to releasing at least one new model annually in Europe through 2029. Their lineup will include both fully electric and extended-range electric vehicles, aligning with market trends where hybrid and range-extended EVs complement pure battery-electric offerings.
Implications for the Pakistani Auto Market
Although Li Auto has not announced plans to introduce the Li 6 in Pakistan, its move into Europe underlines the growing global prominence of Chinese EV manufacturers. Pakistani consumers are already witnessing increased availability of imported Chinese electric SUVs, such as the Zeekr 7X and GAC AION V, signaling rising competition in electric mobility. As infrastructure and after-sales support become critical success factors internationally, Pakistani buyers might soon experience similar advances in electric vehicle options and services.
Li Auto’s European debut at the Paris Motor Show underscores a significant step for Chinese EV brands striving to capture mature markets. With a product tailored to European preferences and a clear expansion roadmap, the company is setting a benchmark that could influence EV adoption dynamics in other regions, including Pakistan.
“Our Li 6 launch at the Paris Motor Show represents our commitment to delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles suited for European customers,” Li Auto stated during the event. This development will be closely watched as a gauge for future Chinese EV entries worldwide.
