Agile Robots to Produce 2,000 Humanoids Using NVIDIA Tech
Munich-based robotics firm Agile Robots aims to manufacture up to 2,000 humanoid robots by 2027, leveraging NVIDIA’s advanced computing technology. The production of these robots is expected to commence by late 2026, according to CEO Zhaopeng Chen.
Agile ONE SN: A New Generation Humanoid Robot
The company introduced its latest model, Agile ONE SN, during NVIDIA’s GTC conference held in Berlin on October 21. This model is equipped with NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor platform and runs the Isaac GR00T AI software, allowing it to learn and navigate complex environments efficiently.
Measuring 1.4 meters in height and weighing around 40 kilograms, Agile ONE SN features 31 degrees of freedom and includes two five-fingered robotic hands with sophisticated tactile sensing for delicate and precise tasks. Its sensory array incorporates cameras on the head and wrists, lidar sensors, and inertial measurement units, enabling it to interact skillfully with its surroundings.
Enhanced AI Integration and Research Potential
This humanoid robot utilizes the Jetson Thor computing unit that delivers an impressive 2,070 teraflops of FP4 performance and offers 128GB of unified memory. These capabilities support real-time decision-making and complex reasoning required for versatile robotics applications. Dr. Spencer Huang from NVIDIA highlighted that the preassembled platform can dramatically reduce setup times for research from weeks to days, streamlining robotics development.
Agile Robots targets academic institutions like Stanford University and ETH Zurich as early adopters, with the robot designed to serve as a compact, effective research tool. The company envisions its robots contributing extensively to AI research and real-world problem-solving.
Why This Matters for Pakistan
As Pakistan is increasingly investing in technology and AI-driven innovation, breakthroughs like Agile ONE SN showcase how robotics technology is becoming more accessible and useful at scale. The integration of NVIDIA’s powerful AI hardware and software into humanoid robots could accelerate research collaborations and industrial applications globally, influencing emerging markets including Pakistan. Robotics with enhanced agility and AI could play a vital role in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and education, contributing to economic growth and job creation.
Agile Robots, a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center founded in 2018, employs thousands and is backed by investors like SoftBank and Xiaomi, reflecting strong confidence in robotics’ future. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang highlighted that the robotics industry is near a groundbreaking moment akin to the “ChatGPT moment,” forecasting rapid evolution in physical AI systems.
