FBR Establishes Committees for Large-Scale Recruitment
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has initiated a structured approach to its upcoming widespread hiring by setting up two distinct committees to manage recruitment processes according to different pay grades.
Committees Assigned by Grade Levels
To ensure a systematic recruitment campaign, a three-member panel has been formed to handle appointments for positions from grade 11 to grade 16. This committee includes the chief management officer along with the secretary of management. In parallel, a second panel composed of the secretary of administration and the second secretary of management will focus on recruitment for roles falling within the grade 1 to grade 10 bracket.
Inclusion and Departmental Selection Panels
Alongside these committees, the FBR has greenlit the creation of departmental selection committees responsible for conducting inductions. Notably, each of these panels will be required to have at least one female member. Should an appropriate female officer be unavailable within a department, the Establishment Division will appoint a female representative to maintain gender representation amid the selection process.
Why This Matters for Pakistan
This organized recruitment effort is crucial for enhancing operational efficiency at the FBR, an agency pivotal to Pakistan’s revenue collection mechanism. Streamlined hiring will likely improve the capacity of FBR to manage tax administration and enforcement, which is essential for bolstering the country’s fiscal health. For Pakistan’s workforce, the initiative signals forthcoming employment opportunities spanning a broad range of job grades, potentially stimulating economic activity and supporting public sector growth.
