Consumers to Face Hike in KE Electricity Bills in June 2023

The consumers are going to face another increase in power tariff by Rs 0.05 per unit in KE electricity bills in June 2023.

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has notified a reduction in power tariff by Rs 0.05 per unit for consumers of K-Electric (KE) on account of fuel charges adjustment for the month of April 2023.

K Electric had requested an increase of 49 paise per unit, the Nepra said in a statement.

The Nepra held a public hearing on Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) on 30 May 2023.

Earlier, the customers were charged Rs 3.93 per unit increase on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for March, which was only for one month, Nepra said.

FCA for April will be charged Rs 3.98 per unit less than March, Nepra said adding that it will also be applicable for one month only.

It will not apply to lifeline customers, domestic customers up to 300 units, agricultural customers, and electric vehicle four-stations, Nepra said.

Meanwhile, KE in a statement said that after due process, NEPRA issued its decision on K-Electric’s petition for reduced Fuel Charge Adjustments (FCA) for the month of April 2023.Check KE Duplicate Bill |K-Electric Duplicate Bill 2023

The reduction is at a rate of Rs 0.0472 per unit and will reflect in customers’ bills in the month of June 2023. FCAs are approved by the regulator, NEPRA, after review who also specifies the month during which the charge is applied.
