Pakistan Launches Education Expo for Bangladeshi Students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has inaugurated the second series of the Pakistan Higher Education Expos in Bangladesh, aiming to enhance academic collaboration between the two countries. This initiative is part of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, designed to promote educational opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Pakistan.
The first exhibition took place in Dhaka where 20 leading Pakistani universities participated, presenting their academic programs, research options, and scholarship opportunities. Over the next 10 days, similar expos will be held in Barishal, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Rangpur.
Bangladesh’s Minister for Education, Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon, formally opened the event in Dhaka. He praised the efforts of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan High Commission for fostering educational ties. Dr. Milon specifically encouraged Bangladeshi students to apply for the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships, which are fully funded and aimed at supporting talented students pursuing higher education abroad.
Imran Haider, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in higher education fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences, and Aviation. He emphasized that the expos are intended to strengthen joint academic programs, research partnerships, and expand scholarship opportunities between Pakistani and Bangladeshi institutions.
HEC Director General Scholarships Aayesha Ikram detailed the scholarship programs available, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to advancing educational cooperation through scholarships and institutional exchanges. Under this initiative, Pakistan is offering 500 fully funded Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in various fields including Engineering, Medical Sciences, Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Biological Sciences.
Currently, the first batch of 74 Bangladeshi students has commenced their studies in Pakistani universities under this program. The initiative also includes capacity-building training opportunities for Bangladeshi civil servants, reflecting an expanded scope of bilateral educational collaboration.
This series of educational expos and scholarship programs demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to fostering stronger academic and cultural ties with Bangladesh, promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration in higher education.
