Sindh Announces Two-Month School Summer Vacations

The Sindh Education Department has officially declared that all public and private schools across the province will observe summer vacations from June 1 to July 31. This decision comes as a precautionary measure in response to the rising temperatures and extreme heat conditions impacting the region.
Both government and private educational institutions are included in this uniform closure. Preparations such as examinations, result compilation, and other administrative tasks are expected to be completed prior to the commencement of the vacation period.
In contrast, the neighboring province of Punjab has already announced its summer break schedule. Schools there will close starting May 22 and are slated to reopen on August 24, providing a nearly three-month hiatus. Punjab’s extended break reflects heightened measures to safeguard students and staff amid intense predicted heat waves in central and southern parts of the province.
These provincial decisions highlight the adaptive approaches taken by education authorities in Pakistan to adjust academic calendars to local climate challenges. Over recent years, prolonged heatwaves have prompted several adjustments to school hours and vacation timings nationwide to ensure the well-being of students and education personnel.
The summer vacation announcements will affect millions of students enrolled in schools throughout Sindh and Punjab during the current academic session. Schools are gearing up to align their academic activities accordingly to the stipulated timelines.
As Pakistan continues to grapple with persistently high temperatures, such proactive measures by provincial governments underscore their commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment.
