HEC Introduces Dual and Joint Degree Programs Nationwide

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has officially launched new dual and joint degree programs at universities across the country, effective immediately. This initiative allows students to enroll in two distinct degree programs simultaneously, providing greater academic flexibility and opportunities.

Under the newly approved policy, students can pursue dual degrees without the constraint of belonging to the same department or discipline within their university. This means a student can combine varying fields of study, broadening their educational scope and potentially enhancing their career prospects.

In addition to dual degrees offered within a single institution, HEC has also authorized joint degree programs. These arrangements enable students to complete portions of their studies at different universities. Such programs require universities to establish formal partnerships via memoranda of understanding approved by HEC before launching the academic offerings.

Moreover, joint degrees can be pursued through collaborative programs between Pakistani universities and recognized international institutions. This global cooperation aims to promote academic exchange and align Pakistani higher education with international standards.

The introduction of these academic programs is part of HEC’s broader effort to modernize and diversify higher education in Pakistan, equipping students with versatile qualifications for an increasingly competitive job market.
