Pakistan and United States (US) had not enjoyed good relations during the previous regime of Donald Trump. During that time, US energy giant ExxonMobil had announced to quit Pakistan.

Different US delegations had visited Pakistan and urged the government to facilitate the US companies to work here in different sectors.

ExxonMobil wanted a partnership with local companies consortium Energas to set up an LNG terminal in Pakistan. However, it announced to pull out.

Despite that, it has still planned to work in the energy sector in Pakistan. It had plans to supply LNG to different sectors. Energas still claims that ExxonMobil will be its supplier of LNG after its terminal starts commercial operations.
